History of Parky's People and friends
It all began early in 2004 when Annette Hand, the Parkinson Nurse Consultant, gathered together a group of the afflicted who had artistic tendencies. We put together an exhibition at the Woodhorn Colliery site and it was well attended.
We, the Parkinson's group, became friends and decided to keep in contact after the exhibition closed. BRIC offered us a home and we have been here every Tuesday ever since.
Parky's People, our title of choice, soon changed, 'and friends' took into consideration friends, carers, minders and other victims with similar problems. We began with painting but we have diversified. We now offer - painting, knitting, dominoes, 'Scrabble' and occasional talks. The talks avoid the subject of Parkinson's.
We are happy and we always say thank you BRIC. |
