WILL POWER WRITERS GROUP

Will Power came about after BRIC began a series of writing workshops in 1999. The workshops consisted solely of dialogue that would be transferred to the stage at the PHOENIX THEATRE.
Author Carol Clewlow was the tutor of these workshop and Piers Ibbotson from the Royal Shakespeare Company would be directing the actors at the Phoenix. Songwriter Pete Scott would be supplying the music.
The Script and Dialogue Course was a huge success and it was repeated over four or five years - occurring once a year for a few weeks.
I was one of the members of the writers and we soon established a working friendship - even though we only saw each other for a few weeks each year.

It was after one such term that the rest of the writers were contacted and we began meeting regularly at BRIC.
That is basically how Will Power originated. We used that name because the workshops at the Phoenix always consisted of William Shakespeare's works - the Power of Will, as it were. The rest is history.
The group now consists of nine members and we meet every Friday between 10 a.m. - til noon.
The intention is for each member to bring works-in-progress to the group and read them out for comment and criticism. Some of us are writing novels and others purely for pleasure. It is very informal but we take the class very seriously.
