BRIC Refurbishment
BRIC, on behalf of the organisations sited in the Eric Tolhurst Centre has raised £5350.00 towards refurbishing the centre to make it more attractive and comfortable to centre users. The centre had not been decorated or re carpeted for 14 years and so was in dire need of repair. With this injection of revenue, we were able to make a start and redecorate and re carpet the main areas of use. We transformed an old music room which was rarely used into an additional classroom which is now utilised on a daily basis, the two meeting rooms and the upstairs corridor. This improvement has seen an increase of over 200 people utilising BRIC services since January 2011.

This refurbishment would not have been possible with out the kind support of the following Charitable Trusts and so we are extremely grateful for their kind support:

The Rothley Trust
Hadrian Trust
Catherine Cookson Charitable Trust
William Webster Charitable trust
William Leach CharityThe total cost of the project was £23,000.00 and so we are trying to raise a further £17,650 in order to complete the project and make the centre clean and inviting to members of the public, staff and centre users.

This was a special event to celebrate and recognise the work of carers and volunteers in Northumberland. Our organisation is a small charity that relies on the support and help from volunteers and I feel that this occasion was a memorable occasion for them as they came back delightedly showing off their `goody bags,’ certificates and badges with pride. A good day was had by all and they all made the effort and dressed up for the occasion. It was nice for them to gain recognition in this way for their effortless contribution they have made to BRIC.
